Strategic Alliance Meeting I on July 31, 2005 at the Hotel Intercontinental in Berlin, the partner organizations discussed what they had to do, what they needed from the partners and what the partners expected from CSMC. During the meeting the participating organizations agreed there was a need for regional cooperation in research and innovation management.
Strategic Alliance Meeting II During the Strategic Alliance for "Patent Warehouse" Meeting on December 5, 2005 at Hotel Walzer, in Budapest, Hungary the partners continued the discussion in order to define the mission, vision and the goals and the predictable main activities of the Consortium. The participating organizations agreed that the legal conditions should be similar to the EU RTD Consortium and the Draft Agreement should be adapted from the EU RTD Consortium Model Agreement. The partners agreed that the consortium should engage in the following activities:
-joint innovation management "Patent Warehouse"
-research and innovation management training,
-research networking and joint EU and NIH proposals
-shared research tools,
-network for clinical management
Strategic Alliance Meeting III During SAM III held at Hotel Adalbert, Prague on April 3, 2006 the partners reviewed and discussed the blueprint of the Consortium, agreed on the governing structure and also accepted the draft of the Consortium Agreement.
During the Strategic Alliance Meeting IV in Bratislava on October 1, 2006 the participating organizations outlined the mission, the vision, the goals and the work plan for three years as well as the governing structure of the Consortium.
Strategic Alliance Meeting V March 3-4, 2007 at Hotel Best Western in Bucharest, Romania the Governing Council finalized the Consortium Agreement and accepted it. The partner organizations asked the legal representatives of CSMC to send them the Final Version for signature. The GOC also reviewed the activities of the working groups and welcomed the progress they made in a short period of time.
The Strategic Alliance Meeting VI on October 6 and 7, 2007 in Pecs Hungary the Consortium executed the strategic planning and discussed the work plan for 2007 - 2008.
Research and Innovation Management Training Programs andWorkshops in 2005 -2207 The courses were designed to build skills and confidence, to support networking and partnerships in research and innovation management, to promote the dissemination of knowledge within the institution, and to encourage investments into institutional infrastructure and build research and innovation management team at the participating institutes. The feedback from the participants was very positive emphasizing the benefit of the well design comprehensive training provided real practical knowledge of IP and Research management.
In 2005 CSMC got a training grant from the US Department of Commerce, Special American Business Internship Training (SABIT) for Medical Research and Innovation ManagementTraining and organized training for 8 managers from four Ukrainian Academic Institutes.
Cedars - Sinai Medical Center organized Summer School in Slovakia in 2006 and in Prague in 2007 and trained the core manager groups are already playing significant role at the Academic Institutes and Universities in the CEE.
CSMC and the RECOOP HST organized the first Research and Innovation Management Workshop with WIPO in the CEE Region on March 2, 2007 ¿Intellectual PropertyProtection at the Higher Education¿ in Bucharest, Romania. With WIPO CSMC gave a comprehensive overview of the intellectual property management at Universities - Research Organizations for more then 100 participants came from 15 countries.
For the Ukrainian partners CSMC and the RECOOP HST organized The Research and Innovation Management Workshops took place in Kyiv on June 25 and 26, 2007 for the Institutes of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences and also for the Ukrainian Higher Education. The 134 participants attended the workshops came from the Parliament of Ukraine, the National Information Centre NIP Ukraine (Ministry of Education and Sciences of Ukraine), from 28 Universities throughout Ukraine and 35 Institutes from Ukrainian Academy of Sciences.
For the Croatian partners CSMC and the RECOOP HST organized The Research and Innovation Management Workshops took place in Pecs, Hungary on October 8 and 9,2007 for the faculty members of the School of Medicine University J. J. Strossmayer Osijek, Croatia.
Evaluation of WIPO Worldwide Academy distance learning courses
The main purpose of the evaluation was to assess the selected training materials if those would be useful for the member organizations for their in house training of the faculty members, PhD students, and young scientists. On the behalf of the RECOOP HST Consortium we selected four distance learning courses for evaluation:

DL-204 Biotechnology and Intellectual Property
DL-201 Copyright and Related Rights

Bridges in Life Sciences, Annual Scientific Review Meeting of the Regional Cooperation for Health, Science and Technology (RECOOP HST) Consortium, October 5, 2007 Pecs, Hungary Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) and the RECOOP HST Consortium formed a Strategic Alliance is grounded in high quality scientific output of the individual Partners. The Strategic Alliance is helping to the Partners to provide high quality research and innovation management, expand biomedical research and increase the research capacity of the Consortium Partners. The Strategic Alliance¿s main goal to train and motivate scientists to capture and maximize the value of the laboratories and turn the "outputs" - the research results - into "outcomes" - commercially available products: new diagnostic tools, new medical devices and new drugs - for the benefit of the public.
