About Us

The Technology Transfer Office commercializes the inventions and discoveries of Cedars-Sinai physicians and scientists, and protects these innovations through the patent process. Inventions and discoveries may include a new:

  • Idea
  • Useful process or technique
  • Use of existing medical materials or devices
  • Medical device
  • Composition of matter, such as a newly synthesized chemical compound or molecule
  • Software

We also seek research collaborators and licensees to use our existing innovations and discoveries to develop healthcare products and therapeutics to improve patients' quality of life.

The role of the office is to:

  • Capture new technologies through the invention disclosure process
  • Evaluate whether the invention or technology has enough public or market value to warrant patent protection
  • Secure patent protection, as appropriate
  • Commercialize the technology by marketing to licensees
  • Secure licensing agreements
