Melmed Laboratory

The Melmed Laboratory’s pituitary research focuses on elucidating mechanisms of pituitary tumor development, including understanding its pathogenesis, developing new modalities of diagnosis and treatment of pituitary tumors, and studying somatostatin receptor signaling.  The lab has developed zebrafish models of hormone-secreting pituitary tumors enabling screening of small molecules for new therapies.  The Melmed Lab characterized the human pituitary tumor transforming gene (PTTG).

The Melmed Laboratory is affiliated with the Medicine Department.
