Coordinator, Cedars-Sinai Stroke Program
Laurie Paletz, RN-C, is the coordinator of the Cedars-Sinai Stroke Program. A practicing registered nurse for more than 25 years, Ms. Paletz was formerly the Clinical Coordinator for Pediatric Neurology at Cedars-Sinai.
As part of the stroke team, Ms. Paletz is responsible for developing educational programs and stroke competencies for educating staff, patients and their families about their stroke, risk factors, and secondary stroke prevention. She helps patients adjust to the changes associated with the stroke, through the provision of information, advice and support. Ms. Paletz trains other members of the stroke team and interacts with all of the necessary disciplines in the hospital to assist the patient in receiving a high level of care. She also is involved with stroke research as study coordinator for stroke clinical trials.
Ms. Paletz is a member of the Scientific Stroke Council of the American Stroke Association. An active advocate for stroke, she has lectured extensively on a wide variety stroke related topics and participated in many educational conferences, poster presentations and community outreach events. An article entitled "Stroke vs. status epilepticus. A case report utilizing CT perfusion" was published in the Journal of the Neurological Sciences.
