Training & Curriculum
The fellowship provides balanced exposure to advanced GI MIS cases as well as primary and revisional bariatrics, endoscopy, and motility cases. To augment these experiences, weekly educational conferences provide an opportunity for directed reading and presentations.
Additionally, development of a clinical research project is required, and mentored meetings provide opportunities for fellows to receive feedback on their projects from experienced faculty. Our fellows have an excellent track record of submitting scholarly work to national meetings. Furthermore, we maintain an active collaboration with the Sports Spectacular Diabetes and Obesity Wellness and Research Center at Cedars-Sinai, allowing interested fellows some exposure to the center's active portfolio of funded basic science projects.
At the conclusion of the year, fellows will have completed the curriculum prescribed by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery as well as the Fellowship Council. The fellowship has completed two accreditation cycles by the council and was certified in both advanced GI MIS and bariatrics.
