Cedars-Sinai is a nonprofit, independent healthcare organization that is committed to:
- Leadership and excellence in delivering quality healthcare services
- Expanding the horizons of medical knowledge through biomedical research
- Educating and training physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Striving to improve the health status of our community
Consistent with our mission, we have established the Cedars-Sinai Provider Led Entity (CS-PLE) program to develop and disseminate evidence-based appropriate use criteria (AUC) to support the consistent delivery of health care services, improve patient outcomes, and the safe reduction of cost and waste. At this time, the program is mainly focused on the development of appropriate use criteria for diagnostic imaging.
To develop the appropriate use criteria, the team includes primary care physicians, radiologists, and other clinical specialists and experts in clinical trial design and statistical analysis.
Appropriate use criteria developed by the program are designed for use in computerized clinical decision support systems.
In accordance with the regulatory requirements for Qualified Provider Led Entities, the Cedars-Sinai Provider Led Entity program, its appropriate use criteria development process, and its conflict of interest policies are publicly available from this site. The program policies are also available in their entirety as a single document Program Charter for the Cedars-Sinai Health System Provider Led Entity (PDF) .
