About the Cedars-Sinai Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center
Cedars-Sinai Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center is an internationally recognized program, devoted to caring for patients with IBD and performing leading-edge research. We offer a comprehensive and sophisticated approach to the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases. Our physicians are highly skilled specialists who treat hundreds of people with IBD every year. They are also scientists and investigators engaged at the forefront of research on Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and other inflammatory bowel diseases. Below is a little information about us and about what to expect at your appointment.
We Care for Patients
Your patient care experience starts with a review of your records (if provided) and your past and current medical condition. We will spend some time getting to know you, assess your symptoms and perform an examination. We may ask you to complete forms and questionnaires with detailed information to help us understand and assess your individual needs and circumstances. You may be referred for additional testing to help us gain the information we need to develop a treatment plan that is right for you.
We Are a Team
The leader of your team is a world-renowned physician and an expert in the treatment of IBD. In addition, your Cedars-Sinai team includes nurses and our friendly staff. Keep in touch with us by phone at 310-423-4100, or through the My CS-Link™ Patient Portal (ask your provider or a staff member about My CS-Link).
We Train Physicians on How to Treat IBD
We are committed to making sure that there are good doctors with the skills to provide patients with treatment of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Our patients are the most important part of the team that trains physicians in how to treat IBD using our state-of-the-art approaches. Fellows are physicians who have been selected for our advanced training program based on of their skills and their desire to learn the most they can about the care of patients with IBD. They come to us for a special experience in patient care and are supervised closely by your physician to ensure that your treatment plan is the best possible approach for your individual needs. You may meet with a fellow during your appointment. The fellow is your and your physician’s partner in developing your best treatment plan.
We Believe in Research
We do many types of research to improve the lives of our patients. We do treatment trials; we work to improve the quality of both life and care for IBD patients; we study the role of genetics in IBD; and we do laboratory work to understand the causes and to invent new treatments. You may meet a research coordinator and your physician may talk to you about how you might wish to help in the effort to find new treatments and improve the lives of patients with IBD.
