Update on Stroke Rehabilitation

Stroke continues to be the leading cause of long-term disability. This course will focus on the latest research and clinical advances impacting the acute management and the rehabilitation of stroke patients, including research in the fields of neuroscience and motor learning. Practical applications and evidence surrounding specific interventions will be discussed. Topics will include management of the patient within the first hour of stroke; management of the critically ill stroke patient in acute care; neuroplasticity, motor learning and current evidence supporting rehabilitation interventions; use of technology; and integration of patient centered care principles to support optimal recovery.
This educational activity is intended for physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physical, occupational and speech therapists and other clinicians involved in treatment of patients with stroke.
