Each 15-minute span between the onset of an ischemic stroke and the delivery of clot-busting medication is an average of one month of disability-free life lost for that patient, according to the American Heart Association. Immediate intervention in the case of hemorrhagic stroke is just as critical. Faster intervention simply means less brain lost.
The Stroke Program at Cedars-Sinai operates as a highly coordinated, rapid response team, deploying neurologists, neuroradiologists and other experts the moment a "Code Brain" is called, indicating there is a patient experiencing stroke-like symptoms. We are proud of our stroke credentials, because what they really mean is exemplary care, diagnosis and, most importantly, outcomes for our patients.
