A CIRM-funded stem cell clinical trial for treating amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is underway at Cedars-Sinai. Led by Clive Svendsen, PhD, the unique trial has each ALS patient subject serving as both treatment and control in study to stall progression of ALS.

On April 9, 2013, Professor Stephen Hawking, British theoretical physicist, cosmologist and author, visited the Cedars-Sinai Regenerative Medicine Institute and then delivered a talk to the Cedars-Sinai community urging doctors, nurses, staff and honored guests to support the research.
