Our lab houses a comprehensive biobank for sudden cardiac arrest subjects, storing more than 3,000 individual patient blood, plasma and DNA samples and over 600 postmortem myocardial tissue samples. All samples are processed in Portland and Cedars-Sinai; the permanent biobank archive is housed at the Smidt Heart Institute.
Detailed phenotyping information for each subject is entered into a sudden cardiac arrest clinical database with >700 variables. For each study participant, these include basic demographics, comprehensive medical history (acute and chronic medical conditions and medications), echocardiograms, electrocardiograms, other cardiac interventions and clinical laboratory results. Detailed autopsy information is available for a subgroup of patients.
