Training & Curriculum
The Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai is a two-year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited program, served by a cadre of full-time and private faculty who perform the full spectrum of open and endovascular procedures.
Fellows of the Vascular Surgery Fellowship receive a competitive salary that is complemented by a full benefits package, including paid vacation time, funded continuing medical education time and expenses for presentations at national meetings.
Goals and objectives for the fellow in the Vascular Surgery Fellowship are reviewed annually and prior to beginning a new rotation.

The Vascular Surgery Fellowship strives to train future leaders in vascular surgery who are adept at performing the full spectrum of open and endovascular procedures.
Training Goals

Curriculum
The Vascular Surgery Fellowship program is to provide quality education in the field of vascular surgery to the individual physician. The faculty is committed to help each fellow become independent and proficient in the management and treatment of all surgical and medical aspects of vascular diseases. Fellows are given ample opportunity to build and enhance their skills through participation and interaction with the faculty, in the care of patients in the clinics, wards, in the operating room and in didactic conferences. At completion of our 2-year training program, it is anticipated that the graduating fellow will be successful in obtaining certification from The American Board of Vascular Surgery and will progress to become leaders and innovators within the field.
For the first-year fellow, the vascular surgery rotations at Cedars-Sinai offer a broad experience in the introductory and routine care of patients with vascular surgical diseases. The goals of the vascular surgery rotations are to help the first-year fellow in:
- Developing knowledge and experience in the evaluation and management of inpatient and outpatient vascular surgical diseases
- Refining procedural and operative skills commonly required in the care of these patients, including mastering the fundamentals of basic open and endovascular procedures
The second-year fellow focuses on final skills and judgment acquisition to be able to become a competent and independent practitioner of vascular surgery. The goals of the vascular surgery rotation are to help the second-year fellow in:
- Refining knowledge and experience in the evaluation and management of inpatient and outpatient vascular surgical diseases
- Becoming an expert at procedural and operative skills commonly required in the care of these patients, including mastering the fundamentals of image-guided therapies
- Acquiring the skills to become the senior team leader for a busy vascular and endovascular surgical service
Research
The Cedars-Sinai Vascular Research program conducts basic and clinical research with the main goal of improving prevention and care for vascular disease. Our program enables patients to be treated with the newest therapies to treat a variety of vascular diseases. Currently, there are several clinical trials that are open for enrollment to patients with vascular disease, mostly focused on aortic aneurysm.
