Internal medicine residency applicants interested in the Primary Care Track should apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) match number for this program is 1030140M0.
Instructions & Information for Applicants
For the postgraduate level year one (first-year medical residency) program, Cedars-Sinai only accepts applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Please note that the Cedars-Sinai Internal Medicine Residency Program has opted into accepting supplemental ERAS applications. However, completion of the supplemental ERAS application is optional for applicants. Final acceptance into our program is contingent upon graduation from medical school. For more information on ERAS, contact your medical school. Please see our application requirements below.
Primary Care Track (No. 1030140M0) applicants must include the following materials in their ERAS application:
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Transcript of medical school records
- Personal statement
- Medical student performance evaluation from your dean's office
- Internal Medicine departmental letter (this letter may be referred to by various names and any of the following are acceptable: Medicine chair’s letter, Internal Medicine structured evaluative letter (IM SEL) or Department of Medicine summary letter of evaluation (DOM SLOE))
- One clinical letter of recommendation from an internal medicine faculty member
- Up to two other letters of recommendation from any source are optional
- USMLE Step 1 and/or COMLEX-USA Level 1 results
- USMLE Step 2 CK and/or COMLEX-USA Level 2 CE results, if available

All applications will be screened after Oct. 1. Applicants will be contacted via email.
The deadline for accepting your application is Dec. 1. We strongly encourage you to apply as early as possible as interview slots fill quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions
We will offer interviews on most weekdays between Nov. 3 and Jan. 31. We will not conduct interviews during the week of Thanksgiving or the last week in December.
All interviews will be conducted via virtual platform this season. We will not offer any in-person interviews or in-person “second looks” this cycle.
No, we do not have minimum USMLE or COMLEX-USA score requirements, but all applicants must pass the USMLE Step 1 and/or COMLEX-USA Level 1 prior to consideration for an interview. We do not require applicants to have USMLE Step 2 CK or COMLEX-USA Level 2 CE scores reported prior to consideration for an interview, though we do encourage it.
Yes. We consider applications from individuals who have attended or graduated from international medical schools.
Yes. We sponsor our house staff trainees who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents on H-1B visas only. We also accept trainees on J1 visas.
Yes. Applicants may apply to as many tracks as they would like. However, when inviting for an interview, dual- or multiple-track applicants are scheduled for only a single interview day regardless of the number of tracks to which they have applied. Information regarding each track will be provided.

Additionally, the Department of Medicine provides:
- Reimbursement for educational expenses of up to $1,000 per year per resident.
- Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP) textbooks to all incoming categorical interns.
- One-year membership to the American College of Physicians (ACP) for all categorical interns.
