Magnet Designation

The Gold Standard of Nursing Excellence

Cedars-Sinai has received four consecutive Magnet® recognitions for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), making it Southern California's longest-running Magnet designation hospital. The Magnet award recognizes excellence in nursing both for the quality of care provided and for continuous improvement in patient care and support for the health of the community. The award provides patients with a benchmark for the quality of care they can expect.

Practicing at the Highest Level

Studies show that Magnet hospitals tend to have lower mortality and infection rates, as well as higher patient satisfaction and nurse staffing levels.

Our Financial Commitment to Nursing Excellence

Cedars-Sinai was recognized in the Magnet process for its commitment to continued nurse training and education. Cedars-Sinai has been providing nurses with free educational programs and financial assistance through the Geri and Richard Brawerman Nursing Institute since 2002. The medical center affiliates with different nursing schools and offers specialty certification review courses with tuition reimbursement/loans for qualified individuals. As a result of the institute programs, the number of nurses holding baccalaureate and master's degrees has increased, as has the number of nurses with specialty certifications.
