To establish the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Research Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as a recognized leader of biostatistics and bioinformatics nationally and internationally, in consonance with the mission and values adopted by this non-profit and independent health care organization.
This includes pursuing excellence in Research and Education, that is, the generation of new ideas and concepts, and their dissemination with the goal of improving the health status in our community.
The four main areas of purview are:
Educate others about biostatistics and bioinformatics through mentoring of and teaching graduate students, inter-disciplinary courses, continuing education courses, and seminars.
Conduct methodological research to enhance the existing bodies of knowledge in theoretical and applied statistics that benefit human health.
Collaborate on research studies that use biostatistical methods with experts in the biological and health sciences in which the statistician makes substantial contributions, from assistance in the planning and conduct of the study to analysis of data and interpretation of results.
Provide statistical support for institutional projects that are limited in time, nature, and scope. Participate on local and national committees, and other citizenship responsibilities.
