Faculty and Team

CAIRE faculty members develop innovative AI algorithms and software for biomedical research, precision medicine and healthcare. We employ a talented team of software engineers and programmers to implement, support and distribute open-source AI software.

Tiffani J. Bright, PhD

Dr. Bright is a biomedical informatician and AI researcher focused on the development and application of innovative algorithms for detecting and correcting for bias in AI algorithms and models. She serves as co-director of CAIRE.

Jason H. Moore, PhD

Dr. Moore is a biomedical informatician and AI researcher focused on the development of automated machine-learning methods and biomedical knowledge bases for the analysis of biomedical and clinical data. He serves as director of CAIRE and chair of the Department of Computational Biomedicine.

Graciela Gonzalez-Hernandez, PhD

Dr. Gonzalez-Hernandez is a biomedical informatician and AI researcher focused on the development and application of innovative algorithms for natural language processing (NLP) of health data. She specializes in the analysis of clinical notes and social media posts. She serves as vice chair of Research and Education for the Department of Computational Biomedicine.

Xiuzhen Huang, PhD

Dr. Huang is a computational biologist and AI researcher focused on the development of deep learning methods for the analysis of biomedical and clinical images. She oversees the National AI Campus.

Ryan J. Urbanowicz, PhD

Dr. Urbanowicz is a computational biologist and AI researcher focused on the development of automated and rule-based machine-learning methods for the analysis of biomedical and clinical data. He is interested in genetic and clinical heterogeneity.

Sungyong You, PhD

Dr. You is a computational biologist focused on the development and application of computational methods for the analysis of large-scale multi-omics data. He serves as CAIRE’s associate director with a focus on multi-omics applications of automated machine learning.
