Department of Computational Biomedicine

Message from the Department Chair

The Department of Computational Biomedicine serves as an academic home for bioinformatics and data science faculty, students and staff committed to advancing Cedars-Sinai as a learning health system through the development and application of cutting-edge new computational and statistical methods, and software for translational and clinical research. We draw on the disciplines of applied mathematics, bioengineering, biomedical informatics, biostatistics and computer science to answer biomedical and clinical research questions. With the use of observational and experimental data derived from electronic health records and patient samples, and by employing technologies such as imaging, next-generation sequencing and mass spectrometry, we are able to gather information and answer questions. Faculty expertise includes artificial intelligence, data integration, machine learning, natural language processing, and parametric and nonparametric statistics.
