Tan, MD, Named Warschaw Chair in Neurology
Zaldy Tan, MD, has been named the Carmen and Louis Warschaw Chair in Neurology.
A leading memory and geriatric medicine specialist and prominent dementia investigator, Tan is medical director of the Jona Goldrich Center for Alzheimer's and Memory Disorders and director of the Memory and Aging Program.
Tan joined Cedars-Sinai in 2020 from UCLA, where he served as medical director of the UCLA Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Program, professor and assistant dean for curricular affairs at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and held the Robert and Patricia Draine Endowed Chair.
"I am deeply honored to be named the Carmen and Louis Warschaw Chair in Neurology at Cedars-Sinai," said Tan. "This endowment will empower my research on brain aging and quality of care for those living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. It is through this work that I hope to advance the long tradition of excellence in clinical care, education and research at Cedars-Sinai."
Nancy Sicotte, MD, a professor of Neurology and chair of the Department of Neurology, notes that Tan already has made valuable contributions at Cedars-Sinai.
"Dr. Zaldy Tan has been a key recruit to the Jona Goldrich Center for Alzheimer's and Memory Disorders," Sicotte said. "He has made great strides in developing an innovative Care Management Program to address the many needs of our patients and their families who live with cognitive disorders. He is an outstanding choice for the Carmen and Louis Warschaw Chair in Neurology."
The Carmen and Louis Warschaw Chair in Neurology is one of three endowed chairs at Cedars-Sinai bearing the name and honoring the generosity of the Warschaw family. President and CEO Thomas M. Priselac holds the Warschaw Law Chair in Healthcare Leadership. Stephen J. Freedland, MD, professor of surgery and director of the Center for Integrated Research in Cancer and Lifestyle, holds the Warschaw, Robe, Law Families Chair in Prostate Cancer at Cedars-Sinai Cancer.
