Application Requirements

Review the documents and qualifications you will need to submit a complete and eligible application.

Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from an accredited institution with a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. Bachelor's degree in biology, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, cell and molecular biology, or other related life sciences fields are eligible to apply. Those with a lower GPA but outstanding career achievement will be considered.

Three double-spaced pages maximum (about 1,000 words), detailing the applicant's reasons for wanting to pursue the MSRM. The essay must demonstrate enthusiasm for the curriculum and highlight specific ways in which the MSRM will help support the applicant's career development. The Admissions Committee reviews the personal statement for writing skills as well as content.

A minimum of two letters must be submitted from individuals who have supervised the applicant's academic work or job performance. Letters must be written on official letterhead and include the letter writer's email address and phone number. Applicants may upload letters on behalf of their letter writers through the application portal or have them sent to [email protected]. We reserve the right to contact letter writers to verify the contents of the letter.

Applicants should submit a current resume or CV that clearly highlights their academic background, research experience and relevant skills. The document must be well-organized and limited to two to three pages. It should include sections on education, research or laboratory experience, and technical skills. If applicable, include publications or presentations, as well as any honors or awards received. Relevant professional experience is crucial, and demonstrating leadership, outreach or community engagement can be advantageous. While a structured format is recommended, exceptional candidates with unique qualifications or experiences that demonstrate a strong interest in the field will also be considered.

The GRE is not required. However, individuals who do not have a strong academic record in math, science or economics courses may wish to submit GRE or equivalent (MCAT, GMAT) scores to strengthen their application.

Official transcripts for all undergraduate studies, including relevant coursework in biology, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, cell and molecular biology, or other related life sciences fields, should be sent directly from the institution to the graduate program office at [email protected].

For students whose first language is not English, official TOEFL scores are required. These must be sent directly from ETS to the Graduate Program Office (TOEFL institution code 5739).
