Led by Cedars-Sinai cancer in collaboration with seven NCI and emerging cancer centers, this nationally recognized program trains community health educators and outreach coordinators to become effective cancer control experts. Through 10 comprehensive modules covering evidence-based interventions, partnerships, clinical trials and the cancer continuum, participants acquire essential skills to address cancer as a public health concern and health disparities in groups that historically have been socially marginalized.
This is a 10-week program requiring completion of weekly asynchronous modules and participation in Friday synchronous discussion groups across multiple time zones.
The Certificate in Community Outreach and Engagement is open to community health educators, outreach coordinators or individuals in similar roles who are "boots on the ground" at NCI-designated or emerging cancer centers with supervisor approval and commitment to complete all sessions. The program is $600, with fee waivers available to those individuals without training budgets.
The 10-week certificate program features a hybrid learning model delivered through Canvas, combining self-paced asynchronous content with live facilitated discussions. Each module includes instructional videos, interactive quizzes, personal reflection prompts and exit surveys.
