Linda Azab
Research Associate II

Linda Azab graduated from George Mason University with a bachelor of science in biomedical engineering. Throughout her senior year at Mason, she developed an interest in the magnetic resonance imaging research field.

Tianle Cao
Graduate Student

Tianle Cao received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, in 2018. Since then, he has been a PhD student in the Bioengineering Department at UCLA. His current research interests include brain and cardiac quantitative mapping.

Yuhua "Bill" Chen
Graduate Student

Yuhua "Bill" Chen received his bachelor of science in biomedical engineering from Northeastern University in China. Then he finished his dual-degree master study in bio/biomedical engineering and computer & technology information at Univeristy of Pennsylvania in 2016. He is currently a PhD student at UCLA majoring in bioengineering, focus on biomedical imaging and signal processing. His current research includes developing advanced imaging techniques for cardiovascular MRI.

Anthony G. Christodoulou, PhD
Research Scientist

Anthony G. Christodoulou, PhD, earned his doctorate in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before joining the Cedars-Sinai Biomedical Imaging Research Institute in 2015. Christodoulou's primary research interests are in multidimensional quantitative MRI methods and techniques, particularly the development of MR multitasking.

Pei Han
Graduate Student

Pei Han received his bachelor degree in engineering physics at Tsinghua University. He is currently a PhD student at UCLA majoring in bioengineering, and a visiting graduate student at Cedars-Sinai Biomedical Imaging Research Institute. His current research includes developing advanced imaging techniques for CEST MRI.

Hsu-Lei Lee, PhD
MR Physicist

Hsu-Lei Lee, PhD, received her doctorate in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California. She has been working on MRI pulse sequence design and image analysis for cardiovascular imaging, resting-state functional MRI and rodent brain imaging. Lee is currently an MR physicist at the Cedars-Sinai Biomedical Imaging Research Institute, where she focuses on technical development for human and small animal MRI. 

Meng Lu, BS
Graduate Student

Meng Lu graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor's degree in Bio-medical Engineering in 2017. Meng Lu established the interests in MR science during the summer intern experience at Chinese PLA General Hospital which lead him to Join the Master of Science in Magnetic Resonance in Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He interests in MR sequences programming target to various disease and tissues. After the program, Meng intends to pursue a doctoral degree in a bio-medical engineering related field.

Cody Lynch
Research Associate I

Cody Lynch received his Bachelor of Science in applied physics at Sonoma State University in 2017. He went on to earn his master’s in magnetic resonance medicine at Cedars-Sinai. Lynch was then hired by Cedars-Sinai to further his research in novel deep-learning techniques for biomedical imaging. His research has included projects relating to Parkinson’s disease, pancreatic cancer and cardiology.

Sen "Frank" Ma, PhD
Postdoctoral Scientist

Sen Ma received his bachelor of science degree from the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University, his master of science degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering at UCLA and his PhD degree from the Department of Bioengineering at UCLA. Sen is currently a postdoctoral scientist in BIRI. His research interests include advanced MR image reconstruction, quantitative multiparametric MRI and deep learning MR image enhancement and reconstruction.

Xianglun "Vincent" Mao, PhD
Postdoctoral Scientist

Vincent Xianglun Mao, PhD, is a postdoctoral scientist in the Li Lab. He earned his master’s degree in 2015 and doctorate in 2019 from Purdue University. Mao’s research focuses on quantitative 3D cardiac MR imaging from free-breathing acquisitions; novel development of MRI techniques, primarily for B1 shimming; and fast MR imaging in heart and brain systems.

Fardad Michael Serry, MS
Research Associate II

Fardad Michael Serry earned his master of science in electrical engineering and computer science at the University of Illinois, Chicago, as well as a master's degree in physics from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. He received his bachelor of science in physics with honors along with minors in chemistry and mathematics from Elmhurst College in Illinois. Serry's research interests are on novel MRI hardware and software technology.

Nan Wang, PhD
Postdoctoral Scientist

Nan Wang received her bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering at Peking University in 2015 and her PhD degree in bioengineering at UCLA in 2020. She is currently a postdoctoral scientist in BIRI, Cedars-Sinai. Her major research interest is in quantitative body MRI, including multi-parametric mapping and DCE.

Yibin Xie, PhD
Research Scientist

Yibin Xie, PhD, received his bachelor's degree from Zhejiang University, master's degree from Johns Hopkins University and doctorate from the UCLA, all in biomedical engineering. Xie is currently a project scientist at Cedars-Sinai with research interests in vessel wall imaging, coronary artery imaging and diffusion weighted imaging. His current research in the Li Laboratory includes vascular imaging and hyperpolarized MRI.
