Training & Curriculum

Equivalent rotations include:

• Four weeks of head and neck
• Four weeks of spine
• Four weeks of dedicated pediatric neuroradiology
• Six weeks of vascular neuroradiology
• 24 to 26 weeks of general adult diagnostic neuroradiology

Clinical training includes:

• Computed tomography (CT)
• Functional magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance spectroscopy
• Plain radiography
• Positive emission tomography and CT
• Invasive procedures related to the brain, spine, spinal cord, head, neck and organs of the special senses (eyes, ears, and nose). Procedures include diagnostic catheter-based cerebral angiography, percutaneous minimally invasive procedures for image-guided biopsies and spinal canal access (for myelography, spinal fluid analysis and spine interventions)
• Non-invasive imaging studies related to the brain, head, neck, organs of special sense, skull base and spine, including CT, MRI, noninvasive (MR/CT) angiography, nuclear medicine studies (including SPECT and PET) and radiography. Advanced techniques, such as magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), functional activation studies (fMRI), diffusion weighed imaging (DWI), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and perfusion imaging (CTP and MRP) are integrated into the training program.
• New and evolving imaging techniques

The didactic experience includes the performance and interpretation of all non-invasive imaging studies of the brain, spine, neck, organs of special sense and the vascular supply to these regions, along with invasive procedures.
