Grivennikov Lab

The Grivennikov Laboratory actively studies immunology, microbiota, tissue microenvironment and cancer using various animal models, organoids and an array of modern technologies, including genomics, metabolomics, reverse mouse genetics, imaging and others. The overarching goals of the Grivennikov Lab are to decode new inflammatory, immune and microenvironmental mechanisms governing tumor microenvironment, tumor promotion and resistance to therapies, tissue regeneration and homeostasis. In our research, we work with models of intestinal inflammation, gastrointestinal cancers and study the effects of microbiota, inflammation and microbial metabolites. Traditional lab interests include studies of cell-type-specific cytokine signaling in inflammation; however, we actively continue expanding our research interests and portfolio.

Currently, the main research direction in the lab, includes:

  • Role of cytokine pathways and inflammation in inflammatory bowel disease and colon cancer
  • Role of functional microbiota in induction of inflammation, tumorigenesis and cancer metastasis
  • Role of tumor microenvironment in the progression of colon and pancreatic cancers
