Research Areas

For mammography research, the Zhou Laboratory uses Rachel anthropomorphic breast phantom and BR12 to find the optimal acquisition techniques for the optimal automatic exposure control (AEC).

Both the figure-of-merit calculation and visual comparison from the lesion simulation on the breast showed automatic exposure control Table 1 as a better option, especially for microcalcification detection.

On the research of computed tomography, the Zhou Lab has identified the relationship of minimum detectable contrast to lesion size and patient dose using a power law model and incorporated the patient size dependency in the proportionality factor.
