Cedars-Sinai is a nonprofit academic healthcare organization serving a diverse community of more than 1 million people each year in over 40 locations, with more than 4,500 physicians and nurses and 1,500 research projects in motion. The Neuroendovascular Fellowship takes place in the Cedars-Sinai main campus hospital, located in Beverly Hills, California. With more than 886 licensed beds, 24 dedicated neuro-ICU beds and 32 stroke-unit beds, Cedars-Sinai has more than 50,000 admissions, 90,000 emergency visits and close to 800,000 outpatient visits per year, making it the busiest stroke center on the West Coast. In addition, continuous alliances with partner institutions including Torrance Memorial Hospital, Marina del Rey Hospital and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, provide a constant influx of patients for our training programs.
The neuro-IR facilities include three biplane state-of-the-art Siemen angiographic machines, adjacent to the neurosurgical floor operating rooms and the neuro critical care ICU. Cedars-Sinai fosters an academic, collegial environment among faculty and trainees, and the neuroendovascular fellows regularly interact with residents and specialists from other disciplines within the neurosurgery and neurology departments, and across Cedars-Sinai. The fellows present and discuss cases weekly in neurovascular conferences, present original scientific works in research meetings and in national and international congresses. Professional development plans specific to each fellow will be overseen by Nestor Gonzalez, MD, and Keith Black, MD, and their senior team to ensure a path for each fellow’s development and growth as they aim toward securing subsequent positions as academic clinicians.
