There are more than 1,500 outpatient visits by movement disorders patients to Cedars-Sinai each year, providing an excellent clinical and research base for trainees. An electronic medical records system is available for access to clinical records. The movement disorders clinic is located in the Advanced Health Sciences Pavilion, an 11-story, 820,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility where 24 exam rooms and ample laboratory and office space are available for the Department of Neurology. Three electromyogram-equipped rooms are available for neurotoxin injections.
Neuroimaging
Cedars Sinai's Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) treatment is unique due to the level of integration of neuroimaging with the management of patients implanted with DBS devices. Fellows participate in the acquisition of pre- and postoperative brain magnetic resonance imaging and computerized tomography scans; their use in stereotactic trajectory planning for surgery; and evaluation of stimulation effects in the outpatient clinic. Fellows are instructed in the basics of neuroimaging post-processing, including image acquisition, file format management, image registration and probabilistic tractography.
