The goal of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at Cedars-Sinai is to provide a training experience for each resident that covers the complete depth and breadth of the specialty in terms of clinical, academic and health system experiences. Upon completion of the program, residents have the confidence and skills required to enter clinical practice, pursue subspecialty training and/or begin an academic career in obstetrics and gynecology. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology offers a four-year program, which is accredited for seven categorial positions at each level by the Residency Review Committee of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
About Our Department
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has a nationally recognized faculty. Both the department and Cedars-Sinai consider residency education to be a major responsibility and priority.
The department has four divisions: Maternal-Fetal Medicine; Gynecologic Oncology; Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility; and Gynecologic Specialties, which include family planning and minimally invasive surgery. In addition, Cedars-Sinai has more than 100 private obstetrics and gynecology attending physicians who serve as voluntary teaching faculty and represent all specialties and generalists on the medical staff. Thus, our training program benefits from diverse and high-volume services.
Other departmental activities that support residency training include fellowships in gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology and maternal-fetal medicine; medical student clerkship rotation for UCLA medical students; and sub-internships. Research activity in all subspecialties, with many research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, provides ample opportunity for resident participation and research mentorship.
