Gastroenterology Fellowship
Led by some of the nation’s best educators in health science, our programs are at the forefront of translational medicine and healthcare innovation.
The Gastroenterology Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai, which is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), aims to provide fellows with outstanding clinical training in a scholarly environment so that they can develop into highly competent clinical gastroenterologists, subspecialty consultants or physician-scientists. The program is structured for trainees to achieve appropriate medical knowledge and procedural skills in the fields of digestive diseases and hepatology as well as to obtain the interpersonal and communication skills and professional attitudes necessary to function as effective consultants.
The comprehensive training program covers three years and the fellowship offers both a clinical track and a research track in order to tailor the experience toward each fellow's career goals. Fellows participate in the care of patients with a diverse range of clinical issues at all stages of illness. Throughout the program, all fellows also maintain a continuity of care clinic experience and participate in didactic educational activities.
Cedars-Sinai was named best in California and #2 in the U.S. for Gastroenterology & GI Surgery in U.S. News & World Report's "Best Hospitals 2025-26" rankings. The Cedars-Sinai Karsh Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is home to many internationally recognized gastroenterologists, hepatologists and physician-scientists. All faculty members are dedicated to the clinical and research training of our fellows and represent every subspecialty in the field including general gastroenterology, pancreaticobiliary diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, hepatology, nutrition and motility disorders. Cedars-Sinai also has a state-of-the-art endoscopy unit, where more than 500 diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are performed each month, as well as modern research facilities for basic, translational and clinical investigation.
Letter from the Program Directors
We are delighted you have taken the opportunity to visit our website and we hope the information you find here, will allow you to understand the philosophy and vision of our fellowship program and division.
A major goal of the division is to educate and train the next generation of leaders in digestive and liver diseases. Our fellowship program is highly competitive and trains expert clinicians as well as physician-scientists with protected time for research. Given the relatively small size of our program and abundant time for electives and research, we are able to tailor the curriculum to support each fellow’s interest.
Finally, our division and fellowship programs are highly committed to ensuring continued diversity, equity and inclusion among its members. This is evident by our highly diverse faculty and fellows with respect to gender, race/ethnicity, cultural background and religion. We are able to achieve and sustain this diversity through a number of institutional efforts and support from the Cedars-Sinai Office of Faculty Development and Diversity, Cedars-Sinai/David Geffen School of Medicine Women's Leadership Program, and the Learning to Lean In Discussion Group, among others.
We hope you enjoy exploring the fellowship website and feel free to contact us for any further information.
Sincerely,
Kavya M. Reddy, MD
