Application Information
The program looks for the following characteristics in prospective candidates:
- Academic excellence
- Productive research experience preferred
- Keen interest in hypertension, vascular biology or health services/disparities research
- Ability to work efficiency in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team setting
The candidate must have or be qualified to apply for an unrestricted California state medical license and Drug Enforcement Administration license prior to beginning the fellowship. The fellowship candidate must also successfully acquire medical staff privileges to start in the program. The fellowship—which is not accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)—allows continuous enrollment.
To apply, the candidate will submit the following supporting documents:
- CV (Including publications, honors and awards received)
- Personal statement
- Medical school transcript
- United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) scores
- The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) board certification or proof of board eligibility
- Three letters of recommendation (must include a letter of recommendation from the residency program director)
