Training & Curriculum

For the didactic component of the Hypertension and Vascular Biology Fellowship, our goal is to deliver a well-rounded educational experience to advanced trainees in hypertension and vascular biology. We offer a broad range of didactic conferences and mentoring.

Hypertension Grand Rounds

The Hypertension Grand Rounds are held monthly on Monday at noon. This activity is intended primarily for multidisciplinary physicians and research personnel from the specialty areas of cardiology, nephrology, endocrinology, internal medicine, pediatrics and neurology who treat and/or investigate diseases related to hypertension. The objectives of the series are for fellows to learn how to accurately assess blood pressure in clinical settings, apply treatment recommendations for patients with hypertension and other comorbidities to improve quality of life, and review the workup and treatment recommendations for patients with drug-resistant hypertension.

Hypertension Center Clinical Highlights Symposium

The Cedars-Sinai Hypertension Center 2017 Clinical Highlights Symposium provides a comprehensive review of the latest diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to this complex and multifaceted disease. The course format consists of case-based lectures reviewing the latest evidence, recommendations and scientific principles, which aims to provide clinicians with effective strategies to incorporate into daily medical practice.

Smidt Heart Institute Grand Rounds

The Smidt Heart Institute Grand Rounds are held weekly on Tuesday mornings. This activity is geared toward health professionals who manage cardiac conditions such as heart failure, valvular heart disease and symptomatic and/or life-threatening abnormal cardiac rhythms. The objectives of the series are for fellows to learn how to utilize the best medical and interventional/surgical practice to treat patients with heart disease, choose what is currently the most effective and cost-effective diagnostic modality to evaluate patients with heart disease and to critically review peer-reviewed literature to enhance diagnostic and clinical cardiology skills to better diagnose and treat heart disease.
