See the internship application form (PDF).
Applicants must be 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma. If you are interested in a research experience and are a minor (between the ages of 16-18 and enrolled in high school), please visit our Minors in Research page for additional information on the program and application (available mid/end of February).
Current F-1 students sponsored by other U.S. institutions may participate in an internship, training or employment at Cedars-Sinai with the proper authorization, such as curricular practical training or optional practical training from the designated school official.
We are currently unable to support those pursuing clinical medical training outside the U.S. or those visiting the U.S. on a B-1 or B-2 visa.
Please read through the eligibility criteria below and identify on the application which track(s) you qualify for participation.
Academic Credit for Unpaid Internships: requires enrollment in a course which grants academic credit for the unpaid internship. Candidates should confirm eligibility with their college/university before applying; proof of enrollment and re-enrollment each term will be required if selected. These internships require a minimum of an eight week commitment and may be available during the summer and/or academic year.
UCLA students should explore enrollment in SRP or 195 CE courses.
Observation Only: This track is appropriate for those not eligible to enroll in a course for academic credit. Internships in this track are limited and provide the candidate with an introduction to the wet lab or clinical research environment along with opportunities to participate in discussions and journal clubs. These are observation-only experiences limited to a maximum of 40 hours, and hands-on activities are not permitted for those participating in this track.
Medical Students: M1 and M2 students may apply for research internships if academic credit is approved by the medical school. For additional information on this process, please contact us.
M3 and M4 students may participate with an approved research rotation or with approval of academic credit. Overlap between clinical rotation and a research internship is discouraged.
Paid: Limited in number, these internships are open to all applicants who meet the qualifications identified on the internship posting.
The selection process may take up to two months, and applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early and no later than six weeks before the desired start date.
Once the application form is submitted, the department or faculty member will contact you for an interview. You may apply to multiple internship opportunities, but be sure to indicate at the time of your interview whether you have interviewed for other internships at Cedars-Sinai.
If you are selected, the Research Internship Program will notify you with details for attending a mandatory orientation and requirements that must be completed prior to starting in your department. Please refer to the Preparing for Your Internship page for more information on the mandatory requirements. You may not start your internship until the requirements have been completed and cleared by the Research Internship Program.
