Application Information
Applications for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency are accepted only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Applicants should contact their dean's office or ERAS directly. Positions are filled through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
Resident must be a graduate of an LCME-accredited U.S. or Canadian medical school or—for graduates of international medical schools—be in compliance with ECFMG requirements for postgraduate training in the U.S. Residents must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents or have a J-1 Visa. The program does not sponsor H-1 Visas.
Residents must have 1 year of accredited postgraduate clinical training in a clinical field, consisting of direct patient care (emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, surgery or surgical specialties, the transitional year or any combination of these). All prerequisite postgraduate clinical education must be completed in ACGME-accredited residency programs, AOA-approved residency programs, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)-accredited or College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)-accredited residency programs located in Canada, or in residency programs with ACGME International (ACGME-I) Advanced Specialty Accreditation. Internships (PGY-1) are not offered by the Department and must be independently obtained.
A Postgraduate Training License (PTL) will be required for all residents participating in an ACGME-accredited postgraduate training program in California in order to practice medicine as part of their training program. Graduates of foreign medical schools should contact the Medical Board of California to ensure that eligibility requirements have been met. Such graduates also must have an Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates certificate.
As participants in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), all candidates should review the Match Participation Agreement. Our program's NRMP code is 103062. The number of positions being offered is 3 per year.
All candidates for a residency position are required to undergo an interview. Interviews are by invitation only and are given only after all application materials and letters of recommendation have been received. The cutoff date for receipt of applications is Oct. 31. Invitations for interviews are emailed by mid-November. Interviews are held online in December and January.
To apply for an open position or unexpected opening, you must submit the following materials:
