Headshot of Rameshwar Patil, PhD
Personal Statement

I started my academic career with a junior research fellowship in 2000 at the National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India, after completing my master’s in organic chemistry from Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada (SRTM) University, Nanded, India. I received my doctorate degree (magna cum laude) in chemistry and pharmacology from the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Pharmacology, University of Regensburg, Germany. In November 2006, I joined the drug delivery and nanomedicine group as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai. In 2011, I was promoted to a project scientist in the Nanomedicine Research Center in the Department of Neurosurgery and am currently serving as a faculty research scientist and assistant professor. My research interests include the development of novel strategies to deliver therapeutic molecules across the blood-brain barrier for imaging and treatment of CNS disorders, including brain tumors and Alzheimer’s disease. I am also studying the effect of particulate matter in air pollution on Alzheimer’s disease."
